What is Reiki: Eleanor Mila’s answer
What is Reiki? It's a question I'm often asked. It's also a question I'm often stumped by. I'm not sure what Reiki IS as much as I'm not sure what life is. Or the sun. Or the sky.
I can tell you the facts. I can tell you what some people have experienced. I can tell you how a session flows. And I can tell you what I've perceived through my experience with Reiki. But is that what you're asking?
When people ask me "What is Reiki?" I think they're actually saying "I've never heard of Reiki. Can I trust it?" And while the answer is wholeheartedly "yes" it's difficult to express that to someone until they've experienced it.
Some have known God and been turned away by the church. Some have known medicine and been given the run around by doctors. Some have known love and in turn felt the worst pain imaginable.
Can we trust anything? The truest answer is we must trust ourselves.
Through Reiki, we learn to trust ourselves. Doing so creates a symphony that allows you to move through life easier; trusting more, listening more, loving more.
Reiki is not an answer. It is not a heal all or quick fix. It is not a separate entity that exists outside of you. Reiki is love. It's the energy that we are all made of and move through daily. Some call it source, some call it God, and some call it the universe.
A name is just a name but you can not deny the spirituality of aligning with your highest self.
I personally like to think of Reiki as prayer. It's a chance to surrender and simply allow yourself to accept love. Stop fixing, thinking, moving, going, going, going. Just be.
